Does Day Shoe sell my personal data?

No. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles. The site earns money through affiliate commissions when you buy something through an outbound link, which involves selling nothing about you.

Is there a cookie banner?

No, because the site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell a returning visit from a new one, and you can block those with any browser setting or extension without breaking anything on the site.

Can I read the site without being tracked?

Mostly. Block Google Analytics however you like and every page still works. One caveat worth stating plainly: the two fonts load from Google Fonts, so reading a page still makes a request to Google even with analytics blocked.

How do I get my data deleted?

Use the contact form and ask. For a message you sent us, we delete the thread on request. We hold nothing else that is tied to you.

The short version: Day Shoe sets no cookies of its own, sells nothing about you, and works fine with analytics blocked. Four things touch your data — analytics, the fonts, the contact form, and outbound affiliate links. Each is spelled out below.

Analytics, and how to switch it off

Every page loads Google Analytics 4. It records which pages get read, roughly where visitors are (derived from IP address, at city level at best), what device and browser they use, and which site or search brought them here. We look at it in aggregate to decide what to write next. We never try to identify an individual, and there is nothing in the interface that would let us.

Google is the data processor and sets its own cookies (_ga and similar) to tell a returning visit from a new one. Their handling is governed by Google's privacy policy.

To opt out, block it. Any content blocker, Firefox's strict tracking protection, a DNS filter such as Pi-hole, or Google's own opt-out add-on all work. Nothing here breaks when analytics is blocked — every page and link functions normally. There is no cookie wall and no nag.

Fonts

The two typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts rather than from our own server. That means loading any page makes a request to Google, which sees your IP address and user agent as part of serving the font files. We mention it because it is the one third-party request that happens even if you have analytics blocked, and most privacy policies quietly omit it.

The contact form

The contact form collects exactly what you type: name, email address, your job if you choose to give it, and your message. There is also a hidden honeypot field that catches bots — if you are human you will never see it.

The form posts straight from your browser to Web3Forms, a relay service, which emails the message to us. This site's own server never receives it. That is deliberate: this is a static site with no database, so there is nowhere for a message to sit and no store to breach. Web3Forms' handling is covered by their privacy policy.

We keep the resulting email as long as the conversation is useful. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Outbound buy links

Day Shoe is reader-supported. Buy links are Amazon affiliate links, marked rel="nofollow sponsored" in the HTML — see our affiliate disclosure. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

We do not track your clicks ourselves and we get no personal data back. Amazon reports commissions in aggregate, so we can see that a sale happened, never who made it. Once you are on Amazon you are on Amazon: their cookies, their privacy notice, their rules.

Server logs

The web server keeps standard request logs — IP address, the page requested, timestamp, browser user agent — as essentially every web server does. They exist for security and troubleshooting, are not used to build any profile of you, and are not shared with anyone.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Your choices

You can block analytics with any blocker and lose nothing. You can read the entire site without submitting anything about yourself. If you have sent us a message and want it deleted, ask through the contact form and we will delete it. Depending on where you live you may have formal rights of access, correction or erasure under the GDPR or CCPA — ask and we will honour them.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. We do not make quiet edits.
